Position Overview

Transports ready mix concrete products from batch plants to customer job sites and unloads in a safe and efficient manner.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

The criteria for evaluation in this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Compliance with all DOT regulations and adhere to all P.J. Keating policies and procedures.  Maintain truck logs according to state and federal regulations.
  • Delivery of ready mix concrete to customer job sites in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Operate equipment and transport material under extreme temperatures, have the knowledge and the ability to operate and drive ready mix vehicle.
  • Perform pre and post trips inspections daily and report any deficiencies to the manager.
  • Maintain telephone or radio contact with appropriate supervisor to receive delivery instructions.
  • Communicate effectively with other drivers and managers.
  • Ability to follow directions.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude toward co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Begin work at the designated start time.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that they can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations, using some combination of skills and abilities.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); up to six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER:

Must possess a valid CDL driver’s license with air brake endorsement.
