The Director of Quality will oversee the Quality Management System for Oldcastle Construction Accessories-Meadow Burke and Thermomass.  This position, in coordination with Operations, will drive continuous improvement and defect reduction initiatives to establish an effective Quality Management System (QMS).


Primary Responsibilities 


  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the quality function and team while ensuring proper interface and communication with manufacturing, operations, engineering, sales, and supply chain.
  • Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate (e.g., Kaizen, Six Sigma) to raise the performance of the company’s product lines.
  • Build a strong, high performing quality organization with a clear vision and mission to support company growth.
  • Educates and trains employees as to their impact in the quality management system.
  • Develops, implements, manages and integrates a QMS for manufacturing plants.
  • Serves as the primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Supports concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance and the customer.
  • Designs, implements and documents procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions.
  • Performs root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Develops quality planning methods for all product lines.
  • Develops process certification standards and assist in process certification.
  • Oversees calibration and testing programs.
  • Participates in internal and external quality audits.
  • Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.
  • Reports to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
  • Establishes supplier quality requirements.




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Production Operations or related field preferred.
  • Certified Manager of Quality/Certified Quality Engineer (CMQOE, CQE) preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows applications, ERP systems, and SPC & Document Control (Ensur & Infinity QS) databases
  • Accomplished and seasoned quality professional with extensive and effective quality staff leadership and management experience in manufacturing operation.
  • Experience in a durable product manufacturer preferable in CNC machining, metal fabrication, welding or foundries. Knowledge of raw materials and other manufacturing processes such as plating, welding, heat treating, and casting is important.
  • Expert knowledge in metrology and application of gage measuring devices for machined and fabricated parts.
  • Expert GD&T experience and knowledge with application to machined and fabricated parts.
  • Proven leadership characteristics with an ability to manage and develop teams. Ability to manage by influence through solid relationships and process focus.
  • Listening, verbal and written communication skills with team members, peers, vendors and customers.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment, get results and drive change through others.
  • Critical thinking and reasoning skills applied to identify weaknesses and strengths of alternative solutions or approaches to opportunities.
  • Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement methods like Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies. Experience an internal auditor.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, PPAP, MSA and SPC.
  • Knowledge of statistical engineering tools for process optimization, capability analysis and problem solving.
  • Sound knowledge of basic manufacturing economics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Management Systems such as ISO-9001:2015, TS-16949, AS-9100.
