Position Overview

 

Oldcastle Materials is looking for a customer-focused individual with strong application and problem solving skills to join our team as an Application Specialist.  The Application Specialist will have the primary responsibility of providing level 2 support for the following applications: JWS Apex, and Libra.  This will include receiving, evaluating, prioritizing and resolving end user issues as well as supporting new deployments and upgrades.  This position will report to the Application Specialist Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

  • Provide 2nd level support for specified applications including JWS Apex, and Libra.
  • Support and implement corporate standards, through training, setup and documentation.
  • Coordinate and work with other teams to complete necessary tasks (e.g. Service Center, Field Services, Infrastructure, vendors, OMG users, etc.)
  • Identify chronic or systemic application errors, document through the ITSM tool, collaborate with the development team and work with the QA team to ensure a closed loop corrective action.
  • Lead creation of support and maintenance documentation of Standard Operating Procedures and processes in an effort to improve customer satisfaction / resolve times and empower Service Center first call resolution.
  • Actively participate in product roadmap and work request activities with designated product managers.
  • Provide timely status updates to key stakeholders and OMG IT Management.
  • Maintain team queues within ITSM tool.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Experience

 

  • Associates degree in Information Technology or equivalent.
  • 3 – 5 years with POS applications including Command series, Libra, JWS Apex, ATS/MCS or a subset thereof.
  • Knowledge of Windows 7 and above, Office 2013 Suite, and general PC Networking.
  • ITIL Foundation certification preferred.

 

Work and Physical Requirements

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to be on call at a scheduled rotation.
  • Ability to travel (overnight) as required based on business needs up to 25%.
  • Ability to drive up to 5 hours for onsite services.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must pass background check, alcohol and drug testing.
  • The position may require work outside of normal business hours in response to critical incidents or business-impacting project deliverables.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently by effectively leveraging provided tools.
  • Ability to understand customer needs and concerns and be able to customize services and products as appropriate.
  • Ability to self-manage time and travel expenses on a weekly basis.

 

Work Environment

 

  • Normal office working conditions in addition to industrial plant sites and quarries, requiring the usage of personal protective equipment, e.g. hard hat, steel-toed boots, and safety glasses
