Position Overview

 

The Oldcastle Materials (OMG) IT Learning and Development Team is looking to add an additional Learning and Development Specialist (“rock star”) learning and development professional to support the growing demand for our services. This role will interact with internal customers to OMG, leverage professional instructional design skills and experience to design and deliver effective learning solutions for OMG IT Core Systems and other related training needs.

 

The resulting learning and performance support solutions will be scalable, sustainable, and multifaceted (Instructor Led Training, Virtual Instructor Led Training, Self-Paced Training, etc.). A strong bias for action, ownership, continuous improvement, effective communication, and quality work with OMG business partners is critical for success in this role.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

  • Coordinate with business and IT stakeholders to assess training needs, learning and performance objectives, and success measures.
  • Demonstrate application of established adult learning principles and Instructional Systems Design methodologies (e.g. ADDIE).
  • Create, administer, analyze, and report on end user needs assessments and skills assessments.
  • Design training plans develop, coordinate, and deliver appropriate application training curricula, training programs and/or individual courses for end users of all levels.
  • Conduct research into learning best practices, training products, and services in support of development and purchasing efforts (i.e., innovation and best practices).
  • Develop, deliver, and maintain learning solutions for new and existing applications, including all course materials, exercises, and skills evaluations.
  • Establish and maintain internal training sites (e.g., SharePoint, SuccessFactors LMS).
  • Create and administer learning evaluation mechanisms using Kirkpatrick model, survey tools, etc.
  • Analyze results, make recommendations for training improvement, and integrate changes in curriculum and/or courses based on assessment feedback.
  • Work with internal software developers to keep apprised of changes and upcoming developments in custom-built applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in both off-the-shelf and custom-built software products used in Oldcastle Materials.
  • Participate in 3rd party provider evaluation and selection, as required, for specialized software training needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related subject matter and/or 5+ years related work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Instructional Design, IT Systems End User Training, Train the Trainer/Super User Methods of delivery, and IT Staff Training.
  • Proven experience working in complex, distributed/decentralized business models.
  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge of enterprise and desktop applications, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Camtasia, Captivate, and/or other training development software.
  • Proven experience with adult learning principles, methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), and course design techniques.
  • Demonstrated, successful experience with building and maintaining systems training courseware and learning solutions.

 

Work Requirements

 

  • May require up to 30% travel in North America.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks (multi-tasking) in a high-pressure environment.
