Job Summary


Perform all income tax compliance tasks for assigned subsidiaries including Federal proforma returns, state unitary and separate returns along with related extensions and estimates, calculations for the annual income tax provision, integration of both stock and asset acquisitions.  Establish and grow relationship with company controllers and other financial professionals within the company.  Additional responsibilities may include IDR response for the federal audit, assisting with state audits, and other various tasks that arise.  

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Prepare and review Federal proforma returns, state unitary and state separate returns and related extensions and estimates
  • Prepare and maintain electronic work papers for Federal and state tax return filings for assigned subsidiaries
  • Assist in completion of income tax provision
  • Prepare stock and asset acquisition work papers including Form 8594
  • Prepare and review data input for our state model which includes apportionment, modifications and tax payments
  • Collaborate with corporate accounting in the field to collect data to ensure timely filing of federal and state returns and timely completion of the annual provision.
  • Conduct effective research and analysis of federal and state tax issues utilizing online research tools
  • Assist in Federal and state income tax audits
  • Reconcile tax accounts

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Extensive experience with the preparation and review of corporate Federal and state returns, and partnership returns
  • Stock and asset acquisition experience, a plus
  • Expertise in income tax software required; OneSource Income Tax, a plus 
  • Advanced Excel skills required; Microsoft Access experience preferred
  • Demonstrate tax technical and tax research skills; CCH, BNA, RIA preferred
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate ideas and concepts to management team throughout company
  • Complete work independently and collaborate within a team environment

 

Qualifications, Training, and Experience

 

  • 5 or more years’ income tax experience.  
  • Public accounting required; industry, a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA or CPA track required
  • Master’s in Tax, a plus
