Position Summary


CRH Internal Audit is embarking on a significant, multi-year programme of upgrading and further developing our Internal Audit Data Analytics Capability.  This programme will accelerate in 2019 and will continue to develop as a strategic platform for our Internal Audit work into the future.  We offer the right candidate a superb opportunity to engage in the early stages of this vital project and become a key member of the CRH Global Internal Audit team in our Atlanta, GA office.  As part of our Atlanta based team, the successful candidate will lead the upgrade of our existing SQL / SQL Server solution so that becomes an trusted and integral part of our Internal Audit activity within our North Americas areas of responsibility.  This challenging role will offer exposure to a wide variety of large and small IT systems, technologies and application data stores – as well as to some larger scale Data Warehouses and BI systems.  We operate a significant number of data centres and IT support teams with which the IA Analytics team will need to interact and as such, it is likely this role will involve up to 30-40% travel within the early years of solution design and development.  Professional competence, confidence, experience and trust will form a crucial component of the overall success of this role over the longer term. 


Required / Desired Qualifications


  • Degree in IT / ICT or related discipline : or suitable long-term professional experience
  • Inclusion of Analytics qualifications, certifications or professional experience an advantage


Required / Desired Experience


  • 2+ years working in MS-SQL & SQL-Server dominated software development, maintenance & support role(s)
  • Significant exposure to a variety of popular data analytics tools role a mixed IT and business organisation (examples : SQL / Python / R / Hadoop / Tableau / ACL or IDEA + Others…)
  • Used to working with varied and large-scale data extraction tools incl. performance of ETL in support of data processing & reporting requirements
  • Expertise in data mapping from application and database layers in support of Analytics, Report and BI development
  • Experience in Systems Analysis, Business Analysis, Solution Design and related supporting technical, systems and end-user documentation
  • Background in program development, maintenance and change management (incl. development and testing life-cycle management)
  • Experienced in validating data used in reports and Analytics back to source business systems and key business data
