Operations Development Manager (OPS) Overview


The Oldcastle Architectural Products Group (APG) has launched an effort, Operations Performance System (OPS), to improve APG into a world class manufacturing operation, driving financial improvement and employee satisfaction. The effort focuses on implementing an integrated set of initiatives to maximize production efficiency across APGs ~180 plants in North America.


Operations Development Manager – OPS Position


This is a full-time position. Operations Development Manager (ODM) role is to implement new processes and tools at assigned sites across North America. This role will be leading strategic, companywide key initiatives providing an opportunity to develop influencing, project leadership and strategic management skills.   ODMs are expected to participate as a member of the OPS team to rollout long term strategic initiatives and key performance indices.


Key Responsibilities


  • Implement OPS tools:
    • Performance management
    • Preventative Maintenance
    • Production planning
    • Labor scheduling
    • Roles and Responsibilities
  • Coach employees and lead training sessions on the OPS tools and best practice processes
  • Coach site leadership best practices in conducting shift, daily, weekly and monthly performance discussions
  • Train and coach site leadership in financial review and development of plan to improve overall profitability
  • Application and tool development
  • Business process improvement
  • Other duties as required


Work Requirements


Candidate must be willing to travel up to 70% of the time to various sites/companies


Knowledge/Skill Requirements


The ideal candidate will:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field including engineering, management/finance or IT
  • 3+ years of demonstrated track record of driving improvements in operations or related field
  • Communication skills that work with both a frontline manufacturing environment and senior leadership
  • Ability to facilitate change
  • Demonstrate a hands-on; collaborative approach
  • Be action oriented and drive for results
  • Be able to coach and influence change
  • Have strong planning and organizing skills
  • Work well in a team and build relationships
  • Financial understanding of profit and loss statements
  • Very strong analytical skills - ability to analyze data and communicate findings
  • Project management skills a plus
  • Business process improvement skills a plus
