Position Overview

 

As part of the global diversified building materials group, CRH, Americas Materials (AMAT) is currently recruiting for the position of Payroll Tax Manager within the Corporate Finance Payroll team based in Atlanta, GA. 

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

  • Manage and develop staff of one accountant and two analysts in processing of all payroll tax and banking related functions.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate payment of all employee and employer tax deposits.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate filing of Federal, state, and local withholding and unemployment returns for sixty legal entities.
  • Manage year-end process including all year-end filings, review and production of 26,000 W-2s, W-2Cs and amended returns as needed.
  • Manage banking-related payroll functions including transmission of direct deposit, positive pay, and prenote files in multi-bank/multi-platform environment.
  • Coordination with Payroll Processing team, Corporate Tax and other departments within CRH Americas Materials.
  • Conduct review of Payroll Tax and Banking processes, identifying opportunities for improvement and efficiencies
  • Maintain professional demeanor at all times while representing the company 
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required 
  • Other duties as required by management

 

Qualifications

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

 

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) strongly preferred
  • 5+ years in a multi-corporation, multi-state, multi-pay frequency environment
  • 5+ years of corporate accounting/finance
  • Solid experience managing and developing payroll team
  • Working experience with Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Pennsylvania city, school district, and OPT taxes a plus.

 

Work Requirements

 

  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

 

  • Solid grasp of payroll principles, wage and hour law, payroll taxes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong “customer service” focus
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to build effective relationships cross functionally
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Must be able to able to work under time constraints and ensure all banking and tax deadlines are met
  • PC literate: Windows, Word, Outlook
  • Excel:  Expert level including pivot tables and v-lookup
  • Mainframe payroll application experience; Viewpoint experience a plus
