Position Overview


The IT Process Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and delivering IT process improvements that are well-informed, optimized for efficiency, and enhance the overall end user experience.  This role helps to drive operational efficiency through identifying performance and process gaps across End User Services, as well as other IT functions, and works closely with service owners to improve toolsets, communication, knowledge management, and day-to-day workflow.  This position will also engage multi-disciplinary end user groups while coordinating process improvement tasks and projects.


Provides exemplary customer service at all times.  Applies developed knowledge of job skills, company policies and procedures, and business demand to meet customer expectations.  Works on assignments that may be complex in nature and require an advanced level of judgment, initiative, and technical/specialized knowledge to resolve problems and/or develop recommendations and solutions. Works under limited supervision and must be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize workload and his/her daily activities.  This position will report to the Sr. Manager, End User Services.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Analyzes IT Service Management model to determine how the various service entities can become more cohesive and effective in delivering core services.
  • Interprets internal/external IT challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes or services.
  • Works closely with IT and business stakeholders to establish process requirements.
  • Produces and executes robust plans for implementing agreed upon changes, including training, adoption, performance measurement and continual improvement.
  • May lead cross-functional teams on projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
  • Assists in End User Services strategic planning, governance models and operational review.
  • Assists in the creation and maintenance of training guides and knowledge base solutions.
  • Proactively communicates with customers, peers, and management to ensure timely resolution of issues and status updates.
  • Evaluates and implements new processes/methodologies that help to increase productivity or enhance overall end user satisfaction.
  • Establishes and maintains positive and effective work relationships with co-workers, leaders, and customers
  • Other duties as assigned.




To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.




  • Bachelor degree in IT, Business or Communications and 3 years’ process engineering experience; 7+ years’ relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Six Sigma certification required.
  • Project management and working ITIL knowledge preferred.


Work and Physical Requirements

  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to travel (overnight) as required based on project needs up to 25%.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must pass background check, alcohol and drug testing.
  • The position may require work outside of normal business hours in response to critical, business-impacting project deliverables.


Knowledge/Skill Requirements


  • Demonstrates depth and breadth of expertise in business process engineering.
  • Significant direct experience designing and implementing process frameworks in a large organization.
  • A general understanding of IT business needs and ideally intermediate-level knowledge of IT Service Management best practices.
  • High degree of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Skype, SharePoint.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate small, cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to identify customer needs, systematically gather relevant information, and resolve problems.
  • Ability to present ideas in concise, business, technical, and user-friendly language.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrates desire toward learning new technologies and maintaining industry standards and best practices.
  • Ability to work individually, in a traditional team environment, and with virtual teams.
  • Ability to effectively work alongside and communicate with people with a wide range of skills, experience, cultures and capabilities.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Highly motivated and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a commitment toward customer service.


Work Environment


  • Usually normal office working conditions where the noise level is quiet.
  • On rare occasion, travel to industrial plant sites and quarries, requiring the usage of personal protective equipment, e.g. hard hat, steel-toed boots, and safety glasses.
