Position Overview

 

The Sourcing Process Specialist is responsible for improving OMG’s use of and value from common Strategic Sourcing processes and the CRH eSourcing platform.  The Sourcing Process Specialist is responsible for supporting OMG / Oldcastle procurement team members and stakeholders through proper design, continuous improvement, effective training and other assistance as needed.  The Sourcing Process Specialist participates in an Oldcastle wide team to implement the systems and to increase the ease-of-use, drive the use of standards, and improve quality of the results.  The role works with all OMG and Oldcastle procurement personnel, as directed, to support activities across the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

The primary responsibilities of the Sourcing Process Specialist will include, but not be limited to:

 

  • Drive efforts to implement and manage a common CRH-wide eSourcing platform with OMG / Oldcastle.  This platform supports project management, contract management and supplier management. 
  • Actively pursue process and system improvements.  Collect feedback and suggestions from users and manage improvement opportunities through the governance structure as needed.  This includes managing all templates, users, supplier utilization and standard documentation located within the process / system.
  • Provide for effective reporting from the eSourcing platform.  The reporting should effectively indicate progress against specified targets and Key Performance Indicators, provide useful data for evaluation of past projects and support efforts to plan / execute new projects and contracts.
  • Ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the contract management process in order to:  improve cycle times for contract development.
  • Support the development of standard eSourcing practices and event template creation.  Work with procurement personnel and the CRH eSourcing committee to implement these practices within the common eSourcing platform.
  • For advanced sourcing events such as eAuctions and complex Requests for Proposals, provide direct support to the divisional procurement personnel through the setup, training, execution and / or completion of these events. 
  • As a primary expert on the use of the eSourcing platform, provide necessary training to users and stakeholders on the value and use of the eSourcing tools.  This may include facilitating / developing routine “how to” webinars to further knowledge and working with external resources to deliver effective training sessions.
  • Identify new opportunities to improve value and performance from the system / process which deliver demonstrable benefits for the business. These opportunities may consist of improving standards, utilizing the tool for new applications, or otherwise optimizing existing purchasing practices across operating divisions.

 

Qualifications

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management; Math, Science or Engineering; Business or related degree or the equivalent in relevant experience.
  • Three plus years of business, procurement, plant operations / engineering or related experience. 
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management  or similar certification desired.
  • Experience working with databases, data warehouse applications.

 

Work Requirements

 

  • Travel required (10-20%).

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

 

The ideal candidate will:

 

  • Have experience in Strategic Sourcing / category management with a proven record for delivering results.
  • Be proficient in procurement tools and process management including: strategic sourcing processes; procurement best practices, procedures, and policies; and strategic sourcing and operating metrics.
  • Be able to effectively provide training and job instruction related to sourcing processes and tools.
  • Demonstrate ability to learn quickly, work independently and accept ownership.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and solid problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrate effective communications skills, including the ability to persuasively present information both in writing and verbally.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and willingness to roll up sleeves to perform hands-on duties in a team environment.
