Job Description


The Vice President of Sales reports to the President of Oldcastle Enclosure Solutions and is responsible for developing and executing division sales plans and leading the sales team for all enclosure products:

  • Organizes and leads a team consisting of market and key account managers, regional sales managers, internal sales representatives and independent sales agencies across North America to achieve the division’s profit, growth and customer service goals
  • Works with manufacturing, marketing and engineering personnel on service improvement and product development initiatives
  • Assists with development of the division’s strategic plans; performs sales and market analyses as required


Position Functions and Tasks


The VP of Sales will have responsibility for managing the Oldcastle Enclosure Solutions sales efforts directed at the telecommunications, electric, irrigation, and municipal water markets.


 Duties include


  • Assigning responsibilities, managing, training and coaching market managers, regional sales managers and direct sales representatives to achieve division sales goals
  • Managing and evaluating the national network of independent sales representative agencies
  • Developing and maintaining high-level relationships with key customer accounts
  • Leading product rollouts and training programs for division sales personnel and independent sales representative agencies
  • Analyzing financial information and market intelligence to develop strategic pricing and growth plans
  • Working closely with operations, engineering and marketing to assess and communicate customer needs and assist with product and service improvements and new product and market development
  • Assisting the division President with developing short and long-term strategic plans


Characteristics of the successful candidate include:


  • Leadership and change management skills: a big picture thinker who can create and communicate vision, provide strategic direction, spur and manage growth
  • Strong management and people development skills: can manage a decentralized, national sales organization, and create and manage accountability without proximity
  • Experience with indirect sales channel models: can create, implement and manage national and cross-regional sales organization strategies; can implement systems to evaluate and drive independent sales agency performance
  • Strong relationship skills: fits well with executive management team, is comfortable with rigorous give and take, communicative and collaborative style




  • Bachelors degree in business or a related field
  • Ten + years of experience in sales management
  • Experience with managing an independent sales rep network and selling through third-party distributors is required. Building materials industry experience, preferably in the electric, telecommunications and/or irrigation product markets is preferred
  • Travel is expected to be ~50%
