Summary

 

We are currently seeking a Furnace Loader/Unloader to load and unload glass in our furnace department. Primary duties are to efficiently position and load the furnace bed to maximum capacity, inspect outgoing material for quality, and properly sorting glass to the appropriate racks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • On/off-loading of glass from, furnace, tables, rolling racks, delivery trucks, or wood crates for 8 or more hours daily
  • Measuring and placing the correct labels on the glass
  • Quality inspection of logo placements and defects, such as cracks, chips, bowing and roll wave distortion and notifying supervisor of issues
  • Utilizing a tape measure to ensure product is within the product specifications
  • Using a shop floor computer
  • Regular and predictable attendance, the ability to safely perform tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of your job

 

Requirements

 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Basic computer familiarity
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure
  • Read and perform mathematical calculations and measurements with numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Must be willing to work in other departments and flexible start/end times and/or overtime as needed
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience is desirable

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • Ability to lift, bend, twist, walk, grasp with hands, and reach frequently
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. unassisted and 150 lbs. with a partner many times in a regular work shift
  • Ability to wear required safety equipment, including safety boots with metatarsal guards and stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in varied temperatures consistent with same climate conditions of the region (Heat, humidity, etc.)
