Summary

 

The schedule for this position is: Sunday-Thursday from 9:30 pm- 6:00 am, but this position typically involves overtime (shift could last up to 12 hours). This is a salaried position. We are looking for someone self-directed, driven and interested in learning our business as a whole.

 

Job Purpose

 

  • Provide exemplary customer service to co-workers and staff while leading a team of employees
  • Encompass best practices in all aspects of safety policies and procedures
  • Adhere to and promote all corporate safety policies
  • Ensure trucks are loaded as per requirements for timely deliveries each day
  • Ability to navigate the Surpass (AS400) ERP system to ensure trucks are complete
  • Identify, train and mentor all potential and future prospects

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the team by communicating positively with staff, co-workers, and managers
  • Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition
  • Loading and unloading glass will require crane operation and/or manual lifting
  • Monitor the overall operation of staff to ensure trucks are ready for deliveries each morning
  • Review load lists at the beginning of each shift and determine a work plan for the night crew
  • Monitor the ERP system to locate
    completed product and arrange delivery to the loading area
  • Ensure proper reading of tags for glass selection and accuracy of shipments
  • Assist in ensuring quality standards are met by inspecting glass loaded on frames or reviewing staff’s assessment of
    completed product. Train, educate and monitor staff to ensure success
  • Stage and prepare trucks for loading; including tractor and trailer movement within the loading area
  • Print bills of lading for drivers based on loaded trucks
  • Remind and clearly communicate all safety procedures to staff daily
  • Monitor general housekeeping and assist with all tasks when required
  • Operate a forklift as required
  • Adhoc requests throughout the plant as required
  • Assist shift supervisors with employee discipline, reviews, and assist in assessing overall employee development

 

Qualifications

 

  • Possess guidance and coaching leadership skills
  • Positive attitude and desire to be part of a team
  • Responsive to change in priorities and immediate demands
  • Possess organizational skills and remains calm under pressure
  • Comfortable leading a team with minimal supervision
  • Prefer experience with Surpass ERP system
  • Maximum manual lifting requirement of up to 75 lbs
  • Prefer Forklift certification
  • Prefer Crane certification
  • Work flexible hours as required
  • Will provide all training as required

 

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

 

  • Daily and/or weekly overtime required, not to exceed statutory legislation
  • Be able to remain in an upright position for long periods of time
  • Be able to maintain composure in a continuously changing environment
  • Must be able to work evenings on a Sunday through Thursday schedule
  • Must be able to consistently lift up to 75 lbs at plant location
