Position Overview

 

We are currently seeking a payroll supervisor who can operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strict confidentiality and sensitivity. The payroll supervisor is responsible for the efficient functioning of the payroll department.  Maintains attendance and time card records for all employees and prepares monthly and weekly payroll.  Ensure that the department follows company policy and procedures, collective bargaining agreements, government regulations, state and municipal contracts and tax law when paying employees. 

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

 

  • Supervises all relevant functions in preparation of the payroll for corporate offices and field employees to ensure and drive efficient functioning of department.
  • Coordinates the payroll process with various departments to convey services in accordance with guidelines.
  • Pre-audits input data and verifies authenticity of output in daily payroll and file maintenance.
  • Ensures accurate preparation and balancing of monthly and special payroll, payroll balance sheet, and summaries.
  • Handles various payroll adjustments, e.g., shortages, garnishments, manual computation of gross and net pay, vacation pay, bonuses, etc., after verifying with appropriate management.
  • Prepares periodical payroll-related analysis, statements, reporting and projections.
  • Updates payroll records by entering changes in various systems
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor

 

Qualifications

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Bilingual for English and Spanish (spoken and written) preferred. 

 

Work Requirements

 

  • 4+ years Payroll experience is preferred.

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

 

  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Office and the ability to rapidly learn different software applications.
  • Possess strong basic math knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills are necessary.
  • Proven accuracy and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to changing schedules and projects

Work Environment

 

  • Will work between a standard office environment.
