Summary

 

We are looking for a candidate with an entrepreneurial spirit to support all aspects of a fast-paced dry mix products manufacturing facility. Daily duties include monitoring daily KPI’s, safety, production flow, and material costs. In this role, the Production Supervisor will provide leadership to staff, assess performance, schedule and direct all operational activities to ensure product quality and consistency while promoting a Safety is #1 atmosphere and culture.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Coach Safety, Quality, Housekeeping, Preventative Maintenance and Productivity to ensure objectives are met through following standardized work
  • Supervise the daily activities and develop associates by training, cross-training, and providing development opportunities.
  • Communicate with hourly employees to discuss machine operation and problems, production requirements, safety, suggestions and areas for improvement, preventive maintenance, and housekeeping/5S duties.
  • Ensure that quality and production standards and objectives are achieved. Verify the accuracy of data and reports.
  • Plan production and establish daily production goals, adjusting as necessary. Plan and schedule regular and overtime hours necessary to meet production goals.
  • Plan, coordinate, conduct, and/or attend safety meetings, team meetings, production meetings, and supervisor meetings.
  • Conduct formal performance appraisals for hourly employees to assess employee performance and help employees improve their performance. Administer corrective disciplinary action; resolve employee complaints through impartial investigation, counseling, or corrective action.
  • Maintain and monitor hourly time records, disciplinary action records, attendance figures, daily production numbers, vacation records, paid absence records, accident reports, preventive maintenance check sheets, and quality control check sheets.
  • Support and make recommendations to improve company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the selection process by interviewing job candidates and/or evaluating temporary employees.
  • Support concern resolution with cross-functional teams, including the Quality, Shipping, and Maintenance department.
  • Implementing process improvement methods and ensuring non-stop operations and ongoing production in an effective, safe and profitable manner
  • Responsible for inventory management, labor, production efficiency, and cost controls
  • Provide leadership to staff, assessing performance, scheduling and directing all operational activities to ensure quality and consistency
  • Ensuring workplace safety through implementation, adherence, and enforcement of company business standards, as well as safety and development programs
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

 

Requirements

 

  • Minimum of 3 years manufacturing experience
  • Bachelor's Degree, plus a minimum of three years' experience in industrial manufacturing in a supervisory capacity, or equivalent in some education but more experience.
  • Must have skills in training employees: planning, assigning and directing work
  • Strong verbal, written, and cross-cultural communication skills, emphasizing interpersonal and group presentation skills.
  • Must have mechanical knowledge of machines, equipment, and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 80 lbs., extended standing, walking, sitting, bending, climbing, working inside and outside, and use of fall protection equipment
  • Able to perform job tasks in sometimes dusty, hot and/or cold working conditions

 

Preferences

 

  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and documents
  • Safety and Quality experience
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • 5S organizational and administrative skills
  • Problem-solving and conflict management skills
  • Successful candidate should be able to demonstrate leadership behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills.
