Role Description

 

The primary responsibility of the Bid Manager is to own the end to end process for the management of proposals, expressions of interest and budgets.  Working in conjuction with experienced Senior Department Managers they will lead every stage of document development from defining the bid scope with customers, verifying capacity, creating the solutions with internal leaders and finalizing presentations/bid packages.  Upon successful award of contracts, the Bid Manager will act as a leadership liaison for the schedule, budget and scope management until completion of performance mock-ups.

 

Responsibilities/Function

 

  • Manage project plans that reflect safety, innovation and industry leading best practices.
  • Champion and deliver a winning bid through effective leadership, inspiration and support of the bid team.
  • In conjuction with Executive Management agree to bid strategies for proposals including required levels of support from the wider organization and departments through bid strategy meetings.
  • Ensure appropriate input from all internal and partner stakeholders to achieve a tender submission and contract award that meets the demands of the OBE Toronto EGS requirements.
  • In conjuction with Sales Manager and Estimating Manager, ensure all required deliverables on tenders are delivered on scope.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge regarding the execution efficiency and difficulties faced by current company operations and projects for use in future tenders.
  • Plan document ownership, organize and chair team reviews and conference calls as required meeting submission critical path timelines and milestones.  Chase and coordinate as required.
  • Clear communication with all clients, maintain positive and effective relationships with customers and partners.

 

Project Specific Responsibilities/Functions

 

  • Leadership for delivering a project proposals that conforms to the company objectives and strategic plan.
  • Attend and participate in sales initiatives and all preconstruction service duties as required.
  • Provide oversight that estimate packages are accurate, complete, and reflect the actual requirements of the project.
  • Reviews proposal drafts and final versions for responsiveness to RFP, thoroughness, staffing, financial considerations, quality and effective design and layout.
  • Develop accountable schedules and budgets with cross- department input.
  • Maintain, manage and update realistic preliminary project schedules and budgets through design phase of project.
  • Manage resources to appease the project during budgeting, pre-construction, sales, estimating and design assist efforts; through to project commercialization and approved mockup.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate project risk and effectively meet technical, schedule and financial deliverables as required.
  • Organize and lead the transition of project operations between sales-to-estimating-to project management.
  • Identify and control contract documentation, scope of work, terms/conditions etc.
  • Liaison with Project Management for tenure of preconstruction through to completion of design services.
  • Ensure extras and credits during Design Phase are captured and documented with Project Manager.
