Position Overview                                                                      

The IT Financial Systems Sr. Director has the overall responsibility for product strategy (in collaboration with business and IT leadership), support services, change management, project delivery, people management, and operational excellence for IT Finance systems for the Americas Materials division of CRH.  CRH is a highly acquisitive, distributed company, which results in a constantly growing and challenging financial systems environment.  A critical leadership position, this leader will not only run the day to day supporting teams, but also provide strategic direction and advice on architectural design of solutions as well as play a critical role in integrations / divestitures to ensure they meet or exceed business needs.  

The ideal candidate is a flexible and well-rounded senior leader with strategic, operational, and program management experience – someone who is self-motivated, detailed oriented, collaborative, and polished in executive messaging and communications.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Provide vision and direction for the financial applications team setting high level priorities, coordinating with business at all levels, and communication on deliverables
  • Work with leadership to develop and execute the financial systems technology roadmap.
  • Become a trusted advisor and collaborate with finance and business leadership to ensure our financial solutions meet or exceed business expectations.
  • Manage the application installation, configuration, upgrades, optimization, and teams supporting assigned financial systems.  Oversees the administration of the organization's financial systems, including
    • Viewpoint:  Accounting system
    • Hyperion Financial Manager:  Accounting Consolidation and North America reporting
    • Hyperion Planning:  Financial Reporting, budgeting/forecasting
    • Proactis:  Procurement and Purchasing System
    • SAP:  North America S4/Hana (future)
  • Define the appropriate organizational structure to support the assigned financial systems.  Leverage both internal, outsource resources (on shore and off shore partners), and managed services to facilitate delivery.
  • Develop and establish appropriate operating policies to ensure optimal performance of application solutions, working in coordination with our IT Operations group.
  • Establish a program for managing/monitoring license structure to ensure it is right sized for the business
  • Build and maintain a high performing team including staffing, technical oversight, assistance with prioritization and project management
  • Lead team in the analysis and resolution of technical problems
  • Investigate and implement solutions to improvements and efficiencies within the financial system environment
  • Vendor relationship management dealing with the financial systems solutions including review, approve and negotiate major contracts, operations and quality management.
  • Creation and management of budget and financial performance on internal and external resources and contracts. 
  • Review and analyze existing applications and develop strategies for improving or leveraging these systems

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Information Systems, Accounting or similar technical discipline
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of large enterprise experience supporting financial applications.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience managing the teams.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of SAP S4/Hana, SAP (ECC) required
  • Experience with Viewpoint, Hyperion Financial Planning and Hyperion Financial Management preferred

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Strong financial knowledge and expertise
  • Demonstrable experience in full life cycle management of enterprise applications and services.
  • Implementation of flexible staffing models utilizing both onshore and offshore partners.
  • Extensive experience in solution and application vendor management.
  • Demonstrable experience mentoring and growing managers and staff.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of formal project management methodologies (PMP preferred).
  • Demonstrable knowledge of ITSM concepts and processes (ITIL certification preferred).
  • Ability to effectively work and communicate with people with a wide range of skills, experience, cultures and capabilities including business leaders, peers, vendors, and staff members.
  • Ability to present ideas in concise, business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Construction or heavy manufacturing industry experience a plus.

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% in both U.S. and non-U.S. locations
  • Overtime as required to meet project deadlines.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
