Job Summary:


The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for all areas of purchasing and procurement including but not limited to RFQ’s, creation and issuance of purchase orders, analysis and negotiation with vendors, to provide the tools necessary for the facility to function at maximum efficiency.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Perform duties professionally and ethically
  • Issuance of RFQ's, assists in the negotiation of vendor pricing and credit terms given the required volume, delivery, and service requirements for goods and services within established guidelines
  • Responsible for efficient, cost-effective purchasing and timely delivery of raw materials, safety supplies, consumables, and all other required expenses
  • Assists in the evaluation of existing and future vendors for reliability and to promote a competitive atmosphere
  • Maintain supply chain reports
  • Maintain adequate stock of inventory
  • Respond to internal/external customer inquiries in a timely manner
  • Respond to product quality issues and related problems as necessary and assist team in solving quality issues
  • Collect invoices, packing slips, and receivers for each purchase order and submit to AP in the appropriate accounting month
  • Accountability for monthly budget as a percent of sales
  • Other job duties as assigned


Skill, Knowledge, and Ability Requirements:


  • Must have at least 2 years of purchasing experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally with people at all organizational levels both internal and external.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office: specifically, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Critical thinking and Math skills: plan and account for material demands
  • Ability to effectively manage fast-paced changes and ambiguity
  • Customer service mentality
  • Ability to work effectively in an autonomous environment
