Interns will work alongside world-class professionals in a fast-paced, professional setting which provides interns invaluable experiences applying the knowledge and skills learned through education in a business environment.


RiverBend Materials is seeking a Summer Intern to work with our Construction Management and Estimating team.  This individual will prepare and assist in preparation of quantity take-offs, support of estimating staff, managing subcontractor RFQ’s and quotes, assist in utilization of field engineering with GPS equipment, tracking and adjusting progress quantities through all phases of the project from pre-construction through completion. Regular visits to the field will be required to verify completed and remaining quantities and to monitor project progress.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Assist estimators and project managers with project take offs and project tracking.
  • Obtain existing conditions in field with use of GPS equipment
  • Assist and prepare quantity take-offs using Agtek
  • Assist and prepare estimates using Bid2Win
  • Prepare and update project schedules using Microsoft Project
  • Previous estimating experience and a strong math background is preferred
  • Ability to read and extrapolate information from plans and geotechnical reports
  • Hours of operation will vary according to current projects.  Minimum of 50 hours/week +
  • Other duties as assigned per supervisor



To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


  • Candidate must be in their Sophomore, Junior or Senior year, and currently enrolled in BS Construction Engineering Management, Construction Technology or related curriculum.
  • Good academic standing
  • Experience and ability using Excel (developing and updating spreadsheets) and Word required
  • Strong math background is preferred
  • Preferred candidate should have construction and/or field related knowledge


Work Requirements

  • Hours of operation/work location will vary according to current projects - Anticipate 70% in Eugene and 30% in Salem
  • Reliable transportation a must
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple demanding tasks
  • Ability to work both on a team and independently, prioritize multiple projects, and meet deadlines
  • Exceptional research, writing, and communication skills
