Position Overview


The CPM Scheduler will report to the Construction Operations Manager, and support the project team to include the Project Manager, Superintendent, PE, Subcontractors and the Clients. The Scheduler shall work closely with Project Supervisors and Managers and when necessary shall also interface with site staff as necessary to compile data for cost and time status on projects.

The scheduler provides expertise in the area of project scheduling, scheduling analysis, and construction activities in support of the Construction Team. Specific duties and responsibilities, knowledge, experience and skill sets must include but may not be limited to:


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Assist in the development of the Initial design/bid CPM schedule
  • Integrate that schedule into a high level master schedule.
  • Track the status of critical activities and changes to the critical path impacting the project.
  • Monitors Project milestones.
  • Analyzes project planning and schedule updates, as well as create “3 week look ahead” subcontractor schedule.
  • Provides “alerts” on items impacting the project schedule.
  • Identifies the critical path and suggests alternatives to regain slippage to the schedule.
  • Develop strategies for negotiating claims including Field/Office overhead, labor and equipment costs.
  • Develop a schedule impact analysis for delays and change orders.

  • BA/BS degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent on the job experience.

Work Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction CPM scheduling is equivalent to college degree and a minimum of 3 years in preparing schedules using CPM Techniques, experience may include internship through school.
  • May be subject to drug testing, medical exams and physical agilities testing.


Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Proficient with MS Project. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Project; Word, PowerPoint, Excel);
  • Must have the ability to interpret contract specifications and drawings.
  • Ability to understand construction logic and sequencing of complex civil projects.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.  


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Standard Driver’s License.
  • Traffic control certificate is preferred.
