This position is responsible for supporting A/R and general accounting functions. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Compile and sort invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions
  • Verify and post details of business transactions and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases
  • Respond to inquiries from customers and vendors, and researches/resolves outstanding credit issues
  • Work with Dispatchers, Drivers, and Operations Personnel to handle customer orders/complaints
  • Assist in developing new credit policies/procedures
  • Maintain credit invoice and supporting documentation files on all invoices, credit memos, and other related documents
  • Monitor credit holds
  • Analyze vendor accounts and may negotiate extended terms with minor vendors at General Managers’ requests or discretion
  • Prepare, review and set up all requests for new customers and Experian
  • File miscellaneous receiver, copies of invoices, and copies of delivery tickets 
  • Retrieve accounting entries and documents as required by Accounting Manager for account analysis
  • Research accounts and enter portal disputes/debits/pull ship tickets
  • Netting and reconciliation of customer credits and unapplied payments 
  • Familiarity with joint checks and job sheets
  • Identify bonds/ intent and lien letter writing process / requirements for certified mailing 
  • Verify legal address, owner info, tax job specific
  • Email customers / POD / statements / Excel report
  • Identify rolling buckets / customer short pays - tax issues 
  • General AR housekeeping
  • Pull agings weekly
  • Pulling Experian report and callling on trade references 
  • Payments through Billtrust
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

Requirements / Education / Experience


  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college; or equivalent in years of related experience or training
  • Familiarity using NACM
  • Familiarity with Salesforce
  • Proficient in MS Office applications, especially Excel
  • Skilled and accurate in data entry and data research with 10-key operation experience
  • Ability to negotiate for positive results
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Previous accounting experience preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing with all levels within the company and vendors
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and math
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Knowledge required on construction products, computers, inventory, and telephones
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as new vendor forms, purchase orders, receiving documents, vendor statements and invoices, credit applications, and SOX documents
  • Strong ability and skill to follow-up, attention to detail and organization


Physical Environment


  • Lift up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
