Position Overview

The Ready Mix Truck Driver is responsible for delivering products to various customer and job site locations.  Primarily work 10-hours per day, 5 days per week.  Will also be required to work up to 14-hours per day, and up to 7 days per week as needed during the busy construction season.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Operates mixer truck in a safe and professional manner in the plant yard, on public highways/roads, and at various job sites to deliver products.
    • Aligns mixer drum under disbursement chute at the plant to receive product into the mixer truck drum.
    • Fills truck water tank with water while mixer drum is being filled.
    • Adds chemical additives into concrete mixture as directed per job order.
    • Places and operates chutes to deliver product where directed.
    • Applies chains to tires as required by road conditions.
    • Keeps accurate log of deliveries.
    • Operates conveyor unit, if applicable, on those trucks with attached conveyors.  Uses hand-held control box to operate and hydraulically move the conveyor belt.
  • Maintains equipment in a safe and clean condition.
    • Performs pre and post-trip truck inspections. 
    • Checks fluid levels, tires, lights, and other controls for safe operation. 
    • Fuels mixer truck.
    • Cleans mixer truck by washing the outside and keeping the inside cab clean. Cleans out the mixer truck drums, hopper, and chutes after each use using water spray hose.  May chip out dried concrete as needed.
    • Informs Service Technician of any maintenance or repairs needed.
  • May perform other duties as needed

     

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.

Work Requirements

  • Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance and attendance.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently, without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays.
  • Demonstrates ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors, Truck Drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators and other employees.
  • Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrates the willingness to learn and work a variety of job tasks.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver’s license, CDL Class A with tanker and double/triple endorsements required. 
  • Must have good depth perception and coordination to operate machine controls.
  • Basic mechanical skills required. 
  • Must pass DOT physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.
  • Will be cross trained to operate all types of heavy trucks in local fleet
