Position Overview

 

This position is responsible for working with the Shop Manager and Small Tool/Light Vehicle coordinator and all operations personnel to assist in their day to day responsibilities. Including but not limited to improving and maintaining yard organization and job supply inventories (pipe, fittings, crusher parts, paving parts, attachments, etc.). Also includes assisting in managing, maintaining and sustaining inventory of small tools such as cutoff saws, chain saws, jumping jacks, etc. including assisting with the checking in and out to operations and reducing the overall cost of the 88 department.  Position will be fully supportive of all operations duties and will strive to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of yard space, inventories, job supplies and overall yard management.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure employee driven safety culture is in place and effective.
  • Sustain a valid driver’s license in order to operate company pickups for parts and materials delivery/pickup as necessary.
  • Continually work with Shop Manager to fully understand and implement true 5S culture throughout yard and shop area including a monthly checklist and scoring process to ensure sustainability.
  • Create and maintain an ongoing yard inventory. This will include all utility parts, paving parts, crusher parts, shop parts, etc. This will be updated and sent to all HK Management on a monthly basis.
  • Assist Small Tool/Light Vehicle coordinator in creating and maintaining and ongoing small tools inventory. This will include job supplies such as shovels, rakes, lathe, twine, grade birds, cut off saws, chain saws, pumps, hoses, generators, etc. This inventory will be checked in and checked out to operational personnel and charged to jobs accordingly to improve cost control and maintain spend within the 88 dept.
  • Manage and maintain both “paver sheds” including electric motors and any and all items stored under it.
  • Manage and maintain quonset with inventories captured and included on yard and small tool inventory checklist to be sent to HK Management on a monthly basis.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Shop Manager.

 

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma required.
  • Experience and knowledge in Microsoft office, technology and internet preferred.
  • Experience in mining, construction or manufacturing preferred.

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory and Order processing systems; uses job specific computer system for ticketing and two way radio for communications.
