Primary Function

 

The Asphalt Plant Management Trainee will learn to supervise all phases of asphalt plant operations.  Such duties include: supervising maintenance of plant, plant employees, production and distribution of product.  This role will be responsible for learning and implementing environmental, health and safety regulations and policies (governmental and company).  The Asphalt Plant Management Trainee will assist in maintenance and repair of plant equipment.  May perform other related duties.  The Asphalt Plant Management Trainee position is considered a developmental role with the expectation that the selected individual will eventually be a key part of plant supervision and management.  This role will also be expected to quickly learn and roll out a new inventory management system that is currently under development by management.

 

Job Requirements

 

  • Job requires the following motions: climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, pushing, pulling, vibration, twisting kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, and reaching. 
  • Job requires occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. 
  • Candidate must be able to climb stairs/ladders to top of plant. 
  • This position uses tools such as sledge hammer, wrenches, screwdrivers, cutting torch, welder, pneumatic hammer/drill, sand blaster, pipe wrench, and hand-shovel. 
  • Overtime work is required. 
  • Employee may be exposed to extremes of hot or cold weather. 
  • Requires riding to and from plant sites. 
  • Should employee be required to operate company vehicle, employee must meet the APAC Driver Qualification Standards. 

 

Education/Experience

 

  • High School graduate with strong math skills and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Computer Literate, experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability
  • Four (4) year degree is preferred, or Four (4) years active military with a minimum achievement of E-4, combined with some college/tech school, or five years of asphalt industry experience with proven responsibility progression
  • Participate and support all team activities
  • Ability to develop a thorough understanding & demonstration of all manufacturing processes and procedures, applicable to areas of responsibility
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have ability to multi task
