We are seeking an experienced individual to manage and oversee all activities related to the QC function including oversight of the company’s quality assurance plan, laboratory quality system plan, research and development, mix designs, binder testing and certification, and other relevant QC managerial duties to meet the needs of aggregate crushing operations, hot mix asphalt (HMA) production operations, and construction operations.  In addition, the right candidate will provide guidance to the personal development of managers and supervisors within the QC Division including training, performance management, and safety. This position will report directly to the company president.




  • High ethical and professional standards.
  • Experienced in managing others and proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to design HMA mixes, understand various Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications, and percent within limits (PWL) specifications.
  • Ability to write reports, document findings and procedures, and effectively presents information and respond to questions from managers, customer and state/federal agencies.
  • Ability to carry out standardized laboratory tests in accordance with ASTM and ASSHTO standards.
  • Ability to work closely with DOT material engineers on specifications.
  • Solid understanding of Best Paving Practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain strong customer, supplier, and community relationships.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. and internet-based software programs.
  • The ability to work in a fast paced, high stress environment.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • A valid driver’s license and the willingness to travel.


Education & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree (B.D. or B.E.) from a four-year college or university.
  • 5+ years of QC field experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
