Summary

 

The plant Manager is responsible for the overall plant operations and ensuring non-stop production in an effective, safe and profitable manner. 

 

  • Responsible for ensuring workplace safety
  • Develop, implement and maintain a quality control program
  • Ensure that all controls for SOX compliance are in place and performed on a daily basis
  • Negotiate costs with aggregate suppliers and schedule raw materials
  • Inspect and run destructive tests and measure parts and products
  • Develop, recommend and implement measures to improve production methods and equipment performance
  • Analyze work orders and estimate worker hours
  • Assist Operations Manager in implementation of preventative and predictive maintenance programs
  • Analyze issues, determine solutions and coordinate corrective action to resolve employee relations and other workplace related problems
  • Develop or revise standard operational working practices
  • Coach, train, mentor employees on the safe and efficient method of operating plant equipment
  • Ensure that we provide a great place to work that is safe and clean.
  • Ensure that we produce quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Understand the operations of the plant and equipment
  • Effectively lead employees
  • Ensure that the plant has a PM program that is preventive, predictive and has adequate spare parts.
  • Must be able to champion the “Everyday Excellence” program
  • Order raw materials to ensure the efficient running of the plant
  • Prepare and maintain appropriate production records
  • Monitor, coordinate and assist with physical inventory counts
  • Monitor company owned trucks and keep daily log sheets from drivers
  • Review monthly budget and work closely with sales team to meet sales goals
  • Help resolve customer problems or complaints
  • Assist with preparation of the yearly production budget and capital project request
  • within area of responsibility
  • Attend and participate in meetings, seminars and training sessions as required
  • Schedule regular safety meeting
  • In the case of Union facility, participate in negotiating Union agreements and handling of any grievances
  • Keep informed of all government rules and regulations and how they apply to the industry
  • Direct all mining, manufacturing, storage and shipping activities
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

 

Requirements / Education / Experience

 

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combinations of education, experience and training.
  • One to two years related experience and or training
  • Finance and accounting skills
  • Knowledge of Axapta sales order module
  • Knowledge of labor laws
  • Purchasing experience
  • Knowledge of construction products
  • Must have basic knowledge of electronics and programmable controllers
  • Know the operation of the block producing equipment and accessory equipment
  • Ability to calculate figures/amounts
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to train and instruct employees
  • Good analytical problem solving skills
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills
