The General Manager leads the ready mix division to optimized profitability by: fostering and maintaining an environment where safety is paramount, articulating a coherent vision for the business, building a culture of continuous improvement, providing effective leadership to ensure the manufacture and sale of quality products and services, along with delivering superior customer service through efficient and effective operating initiatives, maintaining a close familiarity with market dynamics, patterns and trends, and developing relationships with key customer executives and community leaders.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds a culture in which workplace safety, health and environmental management best practices are prioritized.
  • Develops a culture of efficiency by ensuring that best practice processes and systems are utilized in all functional areas of the organization, using Key Performance Indicators, the criticality of these metrics in driving business performance, and ensuring they are consistently and effectively utilized throughout the business.
  • Builds a culture of continuous improvement by inspiring all team members to pursue incremental performance gains in their respective areas of responsibility.
  • Builds an organizational culture in which all team members have an opportunity to contribute and succeed.
  • Develops positive relationships with executive level key customers.
  • Works collaboratively with company executives and key team members in the development and implementation of business strategy
  • Communicates regularly with team members to keep them informed of progress compared to budget and other organizational goals.
  • Professional development of team members is a critical function 
  • Maintains ultimate responsibility for the organization and is intimately familiar with the Financial Statements and supporting scorecards.
  • Leads the organization to optimized profitability by identifying trends while efficiently and effectively guiding team members to correct issues negatively impacting performance and taking advantage of opportunities which will increase revenue or decrease cost.
  • Work with Company President and key team members to develop a realistic budget for the organization and compare monthly financial performance to the budget, holding key team members accountable for their results.
  • Work within the company's established structure to build and maintain a capital expenditure plan that will maintain the viability of equipment and systems in support of achieving all Company initiatives.



  • 7+ years of ready mix experience, preferably in both sales and operations
  • 4+ years of supervisory experience
  • Prior P&L experience preferred
  • Bachelor degree  or equivalent preferred

  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc
  • Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check
  • Able to work independently with attention to detail
  • Able to follow direction and work effectively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of DOT, CDL and MSHA regulations
  • Able to respond to stressful situations and customers in a professional, courteous manner
  • Ability to effectively prioritize assignments to meet long-term and short-term deadlines
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Able to write reports, document findings, and procedures, and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Able to work flexible hours including weekends, at various locations, as required

  • Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written form to employees, management, executives, and customers


Reasoning Ability

  • Able to identify, define and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Able to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical, written or oral form
  • Able to deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Able to interpret written and oral instructions, and to read, analyze and interpret, operating and maintenance instructions or regulations
  • Root Cause Analysis
