SUMMARY

The Shop Lead Person will oversee repairs and availability of vital equipment needed to support production.  This position’s key role will be to coordinate priorities with and communicate equipment repair statuses to the production supervisor.  The Lead Person will be expected to demonstrate leadership qualities in the shop while assigning repairs to mechanics and lube techs. The Lead Person will also be responsible for providing regular updates to the Maintenance Supervisor regarding the status of equipment and maintenance personnel.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Take the lead role ensuring on-site repairs are performed safely and work spaces are kept clean and clutter-free to maintain a safe work place.
  • Schedule daily tasks for first and second shift maintenance personnel, and ensure staff levels are maintained to address production demands as needed.  Monitor punctuality of staff on a daily basis.
  • Perform cost analysis on all major repairs to ensure cost is within value of equipment.
  • Manage the quality of each maintenance employee’s repairs assigned to them.  Ensure each task to be performed is clearly defined and completed to a high quality of craftsmanship.
  • Review incident reports daily and schedule repairs.
  • Complete a daily spreadsheet of down equipment status and communicate to equipment manager and production supervisors at the end of each work shift.
  • Schedule all PM’s to be performed within +/-  20 hours from due date.
  • Search for and make cost saving recommendations to Supervisors when possible.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises personnel within the maintenance department.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four year college or university; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must be able to effectively use a computer to analyze operations and produce reports.  

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals to calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract variables.
