Job Summary

 

The Maintenance Technician will safely perform maintenance and repair on plant production equipment and a variety of building facilities equipment. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician will

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • Perform preventive maintenance duties
  • Respond to maintenance requests and manage the maintenance request log & schedule
  • Maintaining accurate records of work completed
  • Reports and determines of cause of all equipment failures when found and fills out time reports and work orders as required.
  • Access the type, magnitude, hazards, and means to control all energy types.
  • Detects, identifies, adjusts or repairs machine or equipment malfunctions.
  • Assess the current condition of air conditioning, plumbing and other essential facilities and equipment, identify repairs and required upgrades
  • Communicates work with supervisors or other maintenance workers when necessary to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Completes assigned work orders and performs complete safety inspections of machinery, equipment or area.
  • Maintains Facilities Library, technical reference materials and manuals
  • General labor including, loading/unloading, moving materials, and running errands for project
  • Effective interpersonal skills to work with the site occupants, suppliers and other personnel
  • Light patch and paint duties
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work station and area
  • Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of the job.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills, Experience, Education, and Abilities

 

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years’ experience in equipment and facilities maintenance in a manufacturing environment
  • Hands-on experience and understand technical building facilities and related equipment, HVAC systems, fire and sprinkler protection, etc.
  • Capable of reading and reviewing contractor drawings and schematics
  • Able to exercise independent judgment and make logical decisions
  • Able to respond to emergency situations and urgent needs after regular business hours
  • Organized with attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel and Word)
  • Possess competent knowledge of the use and care of tools/equipment used in facility maintenance

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • Must be able to lift and push/pull up to 75 lbs frequently
  • Required to stand and walk on concrete surface from 4-8 hours
  • The employee may be required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • The plant facility is subject to the same general climate conditions of the region (heat, cold, humidity, etc.)

 

Equipment

 

  • All shop power tools and welding equipment
  • All hand-held tools and test equipment
  • Welding and electrical test meters and torch 
  • Tape measurer, distortion tester, recording instruments, nails guns, saw, glue guns, and Bander
  • Forklift and Scissor (Man) Lift
  • Personal tools are used
