Responsibilities 

 

  • Ensuring that the materials required for projects are provided to schedule and according to projected budgets.
  • Ensuring that we select the most appropriate goods and services based on price, quality and services support.
  • Develop the best buying strategies for their organisation while consistently maintaining quality and managing costs.
  • Take customer interests into consideration.
  • Proficient in Excel and communication skills are necessary.
  • Experience in purchasing and ERP exposure an asset but we can train someone who is bright and adapts quickly.
  • The candidate must enjoy meeting people and be good at managing relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
  • Experience in buying would be advantageous as well as formal education in purchasing and materials management.
  • Contacting a range of suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain quotations and agree delivery times.
  • Issuing requisitions and purchase orders for all materials.
  • Providing prices for all materials included in project plans, Bills of Materials and drawings.
  • Assessing the reliability of sub-contractors and suppliers.
  • Dealing effectively with challenges with suppliers and the flow of materials.
    Providing advice to the project estimators and project managers on the predicted cost of individual items.
  • Liaising with the estimators at the tendering stage to ensure that an accurate project cost is provided.
  • Keeping detailed records and maintaining a well-organised work schedule.
  • Follow up with suppliers to ensure on time delivery of purchased items.


Requirements

 

  • Strong experience with Excel.
  • Good oral and written communication and analytical skills.
  • A good standard of numeracy in order to analyse facts and figures.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Tact and Diplomacy.
