Job Summary


The Senior Draftsperson reports to the Engineering Team Leader and is responsible for the preparation and initial review of shop drawings, material take-offs, and fabrication releases for production. He/she is also expected to contribute to a work environment that fosters pride in being part of a winning team.




  • Manage assigned projects from beginning to end, keeping the project aligned with the schedule, estimate and scope of work.
  • Coordinate or Prepare shop drawings, material take-offs and fabrication releases for window and curtain wall projects from architectural and structural drawings.
  • Conduct internal review of shop drawings with senior members of the department to ensure that the shop drawings conform to project specifications and at the same time meets the budget and can be fabricated and installed in a practical manner. Check the work, specifically the take-off, for accuracy.
  • Save all work on engineering server on a daily basis.
  • Liaison with shop floor and project management on the project, as required.
  • Participate in quality control and testing/prove out of the project, as required.
  • Facilitate in improving the productivity of the Engineering Department including standardization of processes.
  • Keep daily record of activities, and submit weekly report.
  • Other assignments that may arise.




  • Diploma in Engineering or Architecture.
  • Extensive drafting experience in commercial aluminum fenestration industry.
  • Good knowledge of 3-D Software (i.e., Inventor or Revit, an asset).
  • Working knowledge of building science.
  • Familiarity with structural and thermal principles.
  • Any acceptable combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school.
  • Five (5) or more years of successful, progressively responsible drafting or technical work.
