Position Overview


Reporting to the Vice President of Operations the Credit Manager will oversee and manage all activities of the credit function for the acceptance and retention of desirable business, optimum receivable turnover, and maximum sales volume and profits. 


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)


  • Oversee the proper and timely review of new and existing credit accounts for worthiness.
  • Establish credit limitations on customer accounts and oversee special credit arrangements and deviations from standard terms of payment.
  • Maximize profit and cash flow by minimizing accounts receivable.
  • Analyze, develop, and improve credit and collection processes.
  • Review collection reports to ascertain status of collections and balances outstanding.
  • Negotiate security for accounts beyond credit limits or not worthy of open credit.  Authorize credit levels. 
  • Assist credit personnel in collecting past due accounts, including proper notification to customers.
  • Audit delinquent accounts considered to be uncollectible to ensure maximum efforts have been taken before assigning bad debt status to account.
  • Identify and reconcile billing discrepancies and assemble paperwork to initiate credit/rebills as needed.
  • Ensure proper controls are in place to ensure SOX compliance
  • Manage legal action for seriously delinquent accounts.
  • Supervise credit personnel, including overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of staff. 
  • Ensure Oldcastle’s interests and requirements are met timely and efficiently.
  • Special projects and analysis as required.
  • Adhere to any and all state and federal regulations, if applicable, as set forth by the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), or any other regulatory agency.


Additional Responsibilities


  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site in uniform and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
  • Strict adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


  • Education/Experience


  • BS degree in Accounting, Finance or Business, plus 5 or more years' of relevant financial management experience. CPA and/or MBA preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting principles, methods, techniques, standards and metrics.
  • Strong financial analysis capabilities, including discounted cash flow modeling and analysis.
  • Skill in examining and establishing proper financial operations and procedures.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong business and strategic leadership abilities.
  • Ability to translate business objectives into actionable, measurable initiatives.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.


  • Work Requirements


  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as reports, contracts, etc.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to professionally and effectively present information and respond to questions from management, staff, customers and the general public.  Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


  • Knowledge/Skill Requirements


  • Individual must possess strong computer skills and be proficient with Windows, Excel and Word.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
