This position tends to any of several types of crushers that size materials such as rock, clay, and sand for industrial use or for further processing by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for own personal safety at all times as well as maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job. Be familiar with and follow Oldcastle’s 14 Fundamentals for Fatality Elimination.
  • Perform pre-shift inspections on all equipment before operating.
  • Start plant operating which includes crushers, feeders, screens, conveyors, mills and any other plant operation equipment.
  • Must adjust plant to regulate flow of materials to and from conveyors, chutes, pumps, or storage bins.
  • Adjust equipment such as screens, conveyors, crushers, and fans to control or vary size of grade of products, or to maintain uniform flow of materials. Must understand proper flow of materials through plant and able to adjust screens and / or chutes to maintain a certified product.
  • Constant communication with hauler operators, loader operators, quarry laborers, quarry superintendent and other plant operators.
  • Must operate/ understand how to stop/start equipment in the event of an emergency.
  • Cleans and lubricates plant operation equipment.
  • Keeps accurate records of materials processes.
  • Required to do log of daily repairs and replacing of plant equipment.
  • Assists Plant Maintenance and/or Ground person in troubleshooting & plant repairs.
  • Climbing conveyors, catwalks, stairs, steps, ladders at heights up to 80-100’.
  • Understand and adhere to all Government Regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Other requirements

  • Current valid Driver’s License.
  • Reliable source of transportation.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize assignments to meet long-term and short-term deadlines.
  • Able to work various times during day, night or weekend hours, at various locations.


Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior stone plant operating or construction material manufacturing experience is a plus.
