Dufferin Construction Oakville Office is accepting applications for the position of General Accounting Supervisor, reporting to the Controller. The General Accounting Supervisor supports day to day operations of the finance department and assists in Corporate Reporting. Responsible for the management and development of a team of Accounts Payable Analysts and Contracts Coordinator, the incumbent will use metrics, analytics and superior interpersonal skills to help drive a division of meeting all reporting deadline.

Drive process improvements, build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Review and validate Financial Statements for month, quarter and year end;
  • Analyze and explain monthly results and KPI’s.
  • Support budgeting and planning activities relative to Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flows
  • Gather and complete the necessary planning/budgeting reports to be submitted to Corporate
  • Positively interface on a regular basis with Corporate Finance Team
  • Support budgeting with respect to financial indicators
  • Coordinate, analyze and maintain job costing and revenue recognition and reporting.
  • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of budgets, forecasts, actual results and Ad Hoc projects to assist in management's review and decision making
  • Prepare any ad-hoc reporting such as the monthly working capital schedules and support management on any ad-hoc financial analysis (CAPEX analysis, After Action Reviews, business planning etc.)
  • Research, document, and communicate accounting and reporting issues
  • Ensure conformity with company accounting and reporting standards
  • Manage a team of accounts payable processors and the relationship with the field to ensure timely processing of invoices through the purchase to pay function.
  • Manage the weekly payment cycle.
  • Ensure supplier issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Develop working relationship with project site staff through regular visits to project sites.
  • Identify and resolve inefficiencies and drive process improvements.
  • Contribute to improvements in accounting policies, procedures, and processes
  • Assist in special projects or assignments as requested.
  • Ensure SOX compliance on financial reporting and accounts payable processing controls.
  • Reconciliations
  • Coordination of the year-end audit
  • Handling HST Returns, Bank Reconciliations, Financed equipment and vehicle leases
  • Collection Calls
  • Minimal travel requirements outside of GTA.  Frequent travel within GTA.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration – finance or an equivalent combination of studies and experience.
  • Pursuing accounting designation (CA, CGA, CMA, or CPA).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.
  • Experience in Manufacturing/Construction industries or in a similar role is an asset.
