Dufferin Construction Company, a division of CRH Canada Group Inc. is currently looking for a Procurement Supervisor to join their team. The Procurement Supervisor working under the general direction of the Chief Estimator- Central and West District is responsible for ensuring terms and prices are consistent with acceptable quality and delivery in the purchase and rental of materials, supplies and equipment for all of the Dufferin Construction Company operations. This role requires considerable commitment and unwavering collaboration with stakeholders to ensure that purchasing activities align with the needs, and requirements of the company. This position will be located in our Oakville office. 
                                                                                    

Responsibilities:  #LI-SS1

  • Establish and maintain close business relationships with estimating teams and/or Superintendents to anticipate procurement needs; taking appropriate action to ensure the timely provision, and optimized cost of goods and services
  • Initiate and support the RFQ process locally as defined by the estimating team
  • Keep the estimating teams informed of any significant developments in the supply and/or pricing of materials and services
  • Assist estimating teams in the selection and subsequent evaluation of subcontractors and material vendors for bidding purposes
  • Identify, negotiate and implement saving opportunities and initiatives
  • Supervise the day to day functional tasks of local procurement specialist and purchasing coordinator
  • Keep abreast of the material, supply and labor trends affecting the construction sector and the impact of these to minimize interruption to the supply of goods and services
  • Maintain material unit pricing in estimating tools
  • Ensure that the procurement department follows all procedures and policies with regards to SOX and vendor compliance
  • Establish and maintain key external supplier relationships

Experience & Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Business, Civil Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum 5 years of related construction experience
  • Demonstrated negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
  • Viewpoint or comparable procurement Enterprise Resource Planning Software (ERP) experience
