Position Overview

This is a skilled position where the Material Sales Manager will organize, develop and oversee the aggregate, and asphalt sales for the Northern Utah Area including all sites within Weber, Box Elder, and Cache counties.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Responsible for safety of self and team members at all times as well as maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job.
  • Assist in the preparation of the company’s marketing plan and is responsible for implementing and supervising its development in the marketplace. This includes both a short-term business plan and a long-term strategic business plan for the various areas of responsibility.
  • Continuously coach and mentor team members.
  • Collaborate with other LOB leaders and operating groups to gain a full understanding of the relationship between sales and operations.
  • Aid in developing and supporting a customer-centric culture within the entire organization
  • Critically review and analyze process workflows and work with the sales and operations teams to implement improvements that aid in improving the customer experience.
  • Possess a working knowledge of all software (Salesforce, Quote to Cash, Viewpoint, Command, etc.) used by the various areas of responsibility and be able to produce measureable and actionable data and integrate it into sales decision-making process.
  • Define our customers’ needs and create specific measures within each department that relates directly to a satisfied customer.
  • Ensure that facetime between sales representatives and customers occurs on a daily basis.  Also engage in facetime with key accounts on a frequent basis.
  • Perform market and customer segmentation activities so that each department is aware of our core customers and how to meet and exceed specific customer expectations
  • Participate in regular department-wide meetings to discuss issues and resolve problems. Acts as a coordinator between the sales efforts and their relationship with technical services, manufacturing & transportation departments working toward the common goal of servicing the customer's needs.
  • Ensure that Staker Parson Companies is the Preferred Source and an industry-leader in the area served by the business unit.
  • Other duties as assigned per supervisor

 

Supervisory Responsibilities 

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and three or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Sales, Quality Control, Customer Service/Dispatch, and Supervisory experience preferred. 

 

Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write clearly and effectively.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, common fractions, and decimals.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
