Summary: Maintains Mixers and equipment by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting deficiencies and making adjustments.  Completes all job duties while following all workplace safety rules.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
  • Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winter annual procedures.
  • Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
  • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
  • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing safety and combustion control standards.
  • Maintains vehicle appearance by straightening, welding, cleaning, washing, and painting.
  • Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs. Electronic record keeping will be required soon.
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Performs quarterly inspections and annual inspections on items including jacks, cranes, ladders, compressors and other items as assigned.
  • Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options. Repairing and rebuilding when available and feasible. 
  • Maintains parts and supply inventory levels, negotiates pricing, places orders, issues purchase orders, verifies parts are received and stocks parts.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
  • Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Acts professionally and is courteous to all.
  • Acts as point of contact with drivers and plant superintendants for reported issues, communicates status, can lead and supervise employees if needed.

 Class A or B Commercial Driver’s license required. Candidate must have good technical understanding and attention to detail. Dependability, thoroughness, verbal communication, documentation skills are required.


Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience in the following areas: Supply Management, Mechanical Tools, Inventory Control, Mixer Functions and Hydraulics.
