Position Overview


Responsible for leading support services team to execute on projects and maintain compliance at all TNJ sites.  Monitor, delegate, and follow up on all the activities of the team with direction from General Manager.


Roles and Responsibilities


(Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Manage the Capital Expenditure process from budgeting to justifications and through completion and close out.
  • Monitor Assets and 5-year capital spend plans
  • Monitor and track major project plans associate with all sites.
  • Manage Head of Security to ensure site safety at lowest costs.
  • Manage workload and execution of projects assigned to Environmental Engineer and Chief Engineer.
  • Project management of all activities associated with the Support Team
  • Ability to disseminate information from multiple sources in order to build and execute mine plans for each site
  • Strong communication with operations to ensure that overall goals are met and opportunities maximized.
  • Ability to budget, track, and execute plans based on financial constraints.  Create and search for opportunities to reduce fixed costs.
  • Create plans associated with capital, mining, reclamation, and land purchase opportunities. Plans should be forward looking and clearly communicated.
  • Use project management and organization tools to follow up and execute projects driven by the Support Team
  • Monitor performance of operations and look for improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and execute performance improvement projects in conjunction with operations teams.
  • Promote safety engagement through personal commitment to safety.


Marginal Duties and Functions


  • Conducts facility tours and explains operating procedures to the public and visitors.
  • Attend after-hours company functions – including but not limited to Customer Appreciation Events.
  • Fill in for other LOB or Front-line leaders in their absence




To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.





  • B.S. in Mining/Civil/Mechanical Engineering or Construction Project Management from a four year college or university.
  • Frontline management experience (minimum 3 years).
  • Must have a strong background in math and science and strong problem solving abilities.
  • High level of proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in permit application and obtaining local, state, and federal approvals (minimum 1 year).



  • Experience in Mining/Civil/Mechanical Engineering, Construction Project Management or Operations Management (minimum 5 years).
  • Professional Licensed Engineer.
  • Project Management certifications.
  • Land development experience to include design and construction


Work Requirements

  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and company procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when required.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety Glasses, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, Dust masks & Hearing Protection


Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to develop clearly communicatable plans and information to be distributed to upper management.
  • Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the key responsibilities
  • Full knowledge of the production goals and strategies of the sites.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and able to operate under general guidelines
  • Ability to perform under deadline pressure.
  • Highly developed oral, verbal, and written communication skills and an ability to work with management and peers.  Ability to present plans to wide array of audience. 
  • Highly proficient use of computer and web based applications.  Strong word processing skills.
