Summary

 

The Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of continuous improvement projects at Dolomite’s fixed plant facilities.  This position will primarily perform supervisory duties, but will often be required to assist with general laborer and equipment operation tasks as needed.  Primarily work 8-10 hours per day, 4-5 days a week, but will occasionally be required to work up to 14 hours per day, and 6 days a week.  This position will include travelling between all Dolomite facilities in the Rochester, NY area.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Acts as a safety leader, and ensures the safety of crew members and other affected personnel
  • Coordinates daily work activities, job site organization, and meeting project requirements
  • Organizes job site goals, timelines, and budgets
  • Supervise and coordinate employees, equipment, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Order required supplies and materials along with obtaining supplies, parts, and materials as needed
  • Understanding and capable of training personnel in construction activities
  • Communicate tactfully and effectively with plant personnel, engineers, and other stakeholders
  • Effective management of employee performance through coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary.
  • Adjust crews and equipment to meet project schedules and budgets
  • Maintaining time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing
  • Maintaining company policy
  • Recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and crew performance
  • Complete daily time cards for crew
  • Assist with interviewing process as necessary
  • Utilize computer software for purchasing requests, employee hour input, and email communication
  • Perform other duties as needed

 

Other requirements

  • Current Driver’s License and reliable source of transportation.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, customers, and the general public at all times.
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to the Safety Manual.
  • Strict adherence to the policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Education and/or Experience

  • Must have 5 years related experience in fabrication, construction or combination of education and experience.
  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Management experience preferred

 

Language Skills

 

Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written form to employees, management, executives, and clients.

 

Mathematical Skills

 

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

 

Reasoning Ability   

 

Able to identify, define and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical, written or oral form. Able to deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Able to interpret written and oral instructions, and to read, analyze, and interpret, operating & maintenance instructions or regulations.

 

Stress

 

Ability to handle stressful situations when dealing with customer demand, supervision of staff and scheduling.
