Job Summary

 

Responsible for supporting the Finance and Accounting Department and for performing multiple general accounting functions. 

 

  • Record both monthly and standard journal entries to the general ledger
  • Participate in the month end closing process
  • Work closely with AR and store operations with cash applications
  • Perform account analysis and reconciliation for both balance sheet and expense G/L accounts
  • Perform cost analysis as requested by the Controller and other management
  • Running and preparing month end reports
  • Special projects and other accounting functions as required
  • Reconcile General Ledger account balances.  Provide audit support.
  • Manage communications with other Oldcastle companies relating to operations transactions completed on each other’s behalf; and communications with Oldcastle for inclusion of those transactions on the monthly Debt Statement
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent in a combination of experience, training and education.
  • 3+ years of accounting/finance experience
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to gathering and analyzing information
  • Experience manipulating large databases
  • Knowledge of accounting software, database software, internet software, payroll systems, minimum intermediate Excel spreadsheet and Word software knowledge.
  • Must be able to multi-task, be detailed oriented and possess strong organization skills.
  • Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the company.
  • Working understanding of standard cost
