Expocrete, a CRH Company is looking for a Plant Supervisor - Richmond, BC. Helping our customer’s vision to become reality is what we do at Expocrete. Job Summary

 

The Plant Supervisor role encompasses more than "just" manufacturing and includes many aspects of production. This is a broad, all-encompassing role that will directly influence the success of the business.

 

  • Allocate and oversee the work of the production & maintenance team to meet operational deadlines and/or cover for absences.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to all direct reports including the completion of annual performance reviews.
  • Maintain stocks of materials and consumables and their appropriate storage as required.
  • Ensure cost effective use of such materials in production process.
  • In collaboration with Operations Manager input and maintain accurate cost information (hourly rates, materials, etc.) into the ERP system ensuring accurate reporting of information.
  • Oversees and mentors the production & maintenance unit by providing leadership using best practices in recruitment, retention, employee development, job enrichment initiatives and may assist in departmental succession planning.
  • Coaches employees by providing performance & absenteeism improvement plans; training & development opportunities; and creating an environment of positive employee relations.
  • Mandates good housekeeping practices to maintain optimum performance of machinery and plant.
  • Ensure employee compliance with all company policies and procedures to create a safe work environment for all staff, visitors and the general public.
  • Provide ongoing and re-training of employees as and where necessary.
  • Ensure all work is performed in a safe manner and maintain safety records as necessary.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and regular risk assessments with appropriate follow up.
  • Ensures compliance by documenting all incidents, accidents, near misses, and WCB claims as required by various governing agencies and internal Environment, Health & Safety Manager.
  • Hold regular maintenance meetings and maintain 52 weeks preventative maintenance program.
  • Schedule maintenance shut downs as required with minimum impact to production and ensure all parts are available for shut-downs while staying on budget.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Knowledge of equipment considered an asset
  • Machine operations experience is desired
  • Must have demonstrated mechanical and trouble shooting ability
  • Excellent communication and team building skills
  • Proficient use of computer software such as Microsoft Office Products, Internet, Email including an ERP system (Lawson)
  • Post-Secondary education in the Engineering field or as a skilled tradesperson would be an asset
  • Training and/or education related to leadership or supervisory is considered as asset
  • 3 plus years of proven leadership experience in a supervisory/management role
