Position Summary

 

Coordinates plant activity to comply with PCI MNL 116, 117, and 120.  Some essential duties of this position cannot be accomplished remotely; physical presence on-site is required.

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

 

Ensure that all work is in compliance with requirements of the PCI plant certification program

 

Direct and supervise inspection and concrete testing employees

  • Direct laboratory and plant activities
  • Ensure appropriate staffing for inspection and testing

 

Function as the internal QC expert

  • Lead person in QC submittal package and final QC reports preparation
  • Keep up-to-date regarding QC and paperwork requirements of various external agencies
  • Responsive to production needs for testing and inspection timeliness
  • Maintain an independent “watchdog” status (ensuring, for instance, that pieces are produced in accordance with drawings) – while still understanding the importance of smooth operation in production

 

Work with production to ensure quality output

  • Responsible for creating, testing, and adjusting concrete mix designs
  • Control and monitor all heating requirements to properly cure concrete
  • Assure that all pre-pour and post-pour inspections are completed and recorded
  • Responsible for calibration of all stressing and testing equipment
  • Work with production and engineering to find solutions to quality problems and/or issues

 

Maintain excellent internal and external customer relations

  • Respond timely and professionally to internal and external customer inquiries and information requests – including both governmental and private inspectors/agencies
  • Take lead in preparing Requests For Resolution: preparing, in consultation with other departments, remedial and submittal packages
  • Research questions to determine the problem and communicate any corrective action that is required
  • Actively engage with production department to ensure workflow efficiencies

 

Requirements

 

  • PCI Plant Quality Personnel Level I/II and ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician certification Required
  • PCI Level III Preferred, or able and willing to attain Level III certification within the next two years
  • Minimum five year’s experience in a PCI certified plant with B4 and C4 certifications
  • Familiarity with concrete mix designs
  • Understanding of PCI MNL 116, 117, and 120
  • Extensive knowledge of specification standards, PCI certification requirements, and production techniques
  • Ability to read drawings
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office with the ability to develop and maintain electronic documentation. Interested in new technology
