Responsibilities include collecting samples or process materials, properly testing these materials, recording results, making decisions based upon the test results, and communicating needed process changes. 


Essential Duties:

  • Collect raw, in-process, and product samples at scheduled times. 
  • Process and accurately analyze samples.
  • Communicate results, observations, and process changes. 
  • Maintain lab equipment, including repair, calibration, auditing, and documentation. 
  • Perform workplace inspections and pre-shift equipment inspections.
  • Review and implement lab procedure improvements. 
  • Follow and enforce plant safety policies.
  • Respond to operational requests and necessities.   
  • Perform other tasks as required. 


Minimum Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Previous lab experience, knowledge of cement process and plant operations preferred.
  • Must have ability to work day and night shifts and unscheduled hours as required.  
  • Must have basic math and intermediate computer skills. 
  • Must have high school diploma or general education degree (GED) Equivalent. College classes or degree preferred.


Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

  • Cement Manufacturing -- Knowledge of raw materials, methods, and the tools involved in the mining, production, shipping and packaging of cement.
  • Mechanical -- Knowledge of equipment used, machines and tools, including their uses, repair of, and maintenance.
  • Engineering and Technology -- Knowledge of the practical application of the technology used and manufacturing of cement. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of cement.
  • Environmental – Knowledge of proper allocation of waste material.


Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Ability to safely work in an outdoor environment with frequent exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise.
  • Ability to perform tasks that include frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing equipment, and working within confined spaces to access and inspect equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
