Preferred Materials Quality Control (QC) Technician Apprentices get the unique opportunity to work alongside and learn directly from our practicing quality control professionals.  The QC Technician apprenticeship role includes on-the-job training and the opportunity to earn debt-free industry-related education and certifications at the same time.  Here is your chance to be part of a lucrative career that is in high demand!  You’ll begin your apprenticeship earning at least 60% of experienced pay while working in the field and earning a certifications from the Florida Department of Transportation’s Construction Training Qualifications Program and ACI at nearby third-party training facilities.  Upon successful completion of the Quality Control Technician Apprenticeship Program you’ll be qualified to apply to work as a Quality Control Technician II at any one of the 100+ asphalt production facilities located within the Preferred Materials, Inc. and the CRH North America Materials (AMAT) network.  As a QC Technician apprentice you’ll work in the lab of a hot mix asphalt production plant and learn to calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, sample and test materials, compile and report test data, conduct routine and non-routine analysis, support operational demands, interpret test results, troubleshoot and make recommendations to ensure product quality.

As a QC Technician Apprentice you will have to the opportunity to progress through a series of roles assignments to gain experience, knowledge, and hands-on skills.  Each role assignment offers new skill development opportunities and escalating job responsibilities with demonstrated proficiency.  Additionally, you’ll be provided a combination of on-the-job and third-party Quality Control Technician Apprenticeship role includes role assignments as: (1) Quality Control TraineeI; (2) Quality Control Technician I; and (3) Quality ControlTechnicial II.


Apprenticeship Qualifications

We are seekingapprentice applicants who are career ready, possess strong math and analytical skills, and aspire to have a career in the building materials and construction indutry.  Candidates for the position must have the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Strong math skills
  • Ability to understand and follow written instructions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools.
  • Willing to work flexible schedules including: nights, weekends and holidays when necessary.
