Job Title: Credit & Collections Specialist

Reports To: Assistant Credit Manager

 

Position Summary

  • Analyzes credit information determining risk, prepares research reports, reviews credit applications, and communicates results of credit analysis and summary of credit requests to appropriate management.
  • Gathers research information, including reviewing company financial statements and developing analytical and informational spreadsheets.
  • Maintains up to date customer account information, including credit data, status of pending payments and account restrictions, and reports regularly to appropriate management.
  • Monitor processes in order to optimize performance against established metrics.
  • Communicates and coordinates effectively with diverse individuals, groups and teams including both internal and external customers to manage credit risk and aged accounts.
  • Properly follow all company policies and regulations for safe work procedures.
  • Report any problems/concerns through your management chain of command.
  • Accept and follow directions of management as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific duty of the overall position.
  • Demonstrates, promotes and ensures an outstanding level of service to internal and external customers.

  • Business to Business Credit experience
  • Credit and Collections experience
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong PC skills

 

Challenges

  • Gauging customer credit risk
  • Protecting company commercial interests & legal rights
  • Interacting with other internal functions for mutual benefit
  • Efficiently managing day-to-day tasks and multiple priorities
  • Monitoring changes in customer and AR portfolio risk
  • Reviewing the entire AR portfolio and new accounts in a timely manner

 

Management/Reporting Job Functions

  • Review weekly hard hold accounts and notify credit manager of needed status changes
  • Keep credit requests current and accurate to meet customer needs
  • Heavy telephone and written communications with customers

 

Credit/Risk Job Functions

  • Gather credit and financials on new and existing customers
  • Identify and closely monitor high risk customers
  • Oversee critical and high volume accounts, keep credit manager informed
  • Provide factual unbiased reciprocal credit ratings
  • Responsible to comply with company credit policies and procedures in accordance with federal and state laws
  • Timely processing of credit applications

 

Collections/Disputes/Recovery Job Functions

  • Maintain relationship with sales (incl. independent) to resolve disputes
  • Perform root cause analysis on repetitive disputes/deductions
  • Research deductions and payment shortages

 

AR/Order-to-Cash Job Functions

  • Maintain credit/collections records and files in computer system
  • Maintain tax exempt status

 

Education / Experience

Minimum requirements: High school degree required with some College coursework a plus; 1-3 years  progressive experience; very strong Excel skills required with a preference shown for experience with additional Microsoft products; ERP experience, preferably with Viewpoint; experience in a multi-state business, preferably with similar construction operations.
