Position Overview

Performs a wide variety of clerical responsibilities within the Billing department.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Validating customer sales orders and ticketing for asphalt and aggregate point of sale systems on a daily basis.
  • Data entry of inbound material tickets.
  • Responsible for inbound mail sorting and distribution.
  • Maintain customer pricing in point of sale and accounting systems.
  • Work with different departments to resolve billing issues.
  • Work with sales team and customers to create quotes and orders.
  • Set up new customer and maintain existing customer data.
  • Provide customer with appropriate product and project documentation.
  • Research customer and haul discrepancies.
  • Prepare yearly municipal construction bids.
  • Assist with scale coverage at Aggregate locations as needed.

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
  • Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. 
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.
  • Knowledge with Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Overtime may be required during peak season.

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education and Experience

High school diploma required, Associate’s degree preferred; or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:

Ability to communicate sufficiently with diverse groups to solve problems, exchange ideas, and to give and receive detailed verbal instructions.  Ability to speak effectively and professionally to customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. 

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
