Position Overview

Credit & Collections Assistant is responsible with assisting in credit analysis and collection of over 700 active accounts.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Review and research all new accounts and maintain credit agreement files
  • Oversight of legal filings for notice of furnishing and request for notice of commencement
  • Call and/or email customers in effort to collect past due balances
  • Liaison between customers, sales, billing, dispatch, and scale clerks regarding various issues
  • Reconcile accounts for a few of the larger customers after payments are received
  • Complete check request for accounts payable to issue customer refunds
  • Primary responder for incoming office phone calls
  • Responsible for inbound mail sorting and distribution
  • Create monthly finance charges/statements
  • Assist with various month end reconciliations (petty cash, discount accrual, etc.)

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
  • Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. 
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.
  • Knowledge with Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Overtime may be required during peak season.

 

 

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education and Experience

High school diploma required, Associate’s degree preferred; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
