The West District of Dufferin Concrete is looking for candidates to fill the position of Driver Superintendent


The Driver Superintendent is responsible for the supervision, coordination, administration and implementation of the driver management programs, activities and projects to support business objectives.  The incumbent will partner with local business leaders to ensure compliance and provide day-to-day leadership in the continued building of a strong business Safety Culture and Jobsite Safety Climate.


As a Driver Superintendent in the West District you are responsible for the following:

  • Promoting and building a plant safety culture and job site safety climate by championing driver safety policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with regional HR and OH&S teams to develop, coordinate and conduct driver team training programs, tool box talks, recruitment, and onboarding programs etc.
  • Lead the implementation of plant and job site safety procedures and programs including but not limited to pre-trip inspections, job site risk assessments, scout program
  • Management of the OH&S incident investigation process including documentation, resolution, reporting and supporting the administration of discipline, if appropriate for all Driver activities.
  • Administration of the early and safe return to work program and management of the modified duties program including working closely with other OH&S personnel to support claims   management.
  • Sole point of contact for production managers in the areas of OH&S and driver performance
  • Ensure business compliance with Federal, Provincial and Local Legal requirements. Working with the production team in the management, and enforcement of urgent items.


Working Conditions:

  • Combination of field and office environment



  • Education: Bachelor's/University Degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience
  • Additional Education Preferred: CET
  • Work Experience: 3-5 years


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and problem solving skills
  • Experience working in unionized environment
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • A thorough knowledge of OH&S policies and procedures
  • A thorough knowledge of the daily business activates at the yard and office  
  • A thorough knowledge of Labour Relations practices
