Job Description Summary

This position supports the Branch or Division Office in creating and recommending bids for construction projects.  The selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers.Reports to and works under the direction of the Estimating Manager.

 

Key Responsibilites

  • Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost and labor estimates for products, projects, or services
  • Ability to apply knowledge of specialized methodologies, techniques, principles, or processes of the business to ensure the best estimates possible.
  • Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists
  • Computes cost factors and prepares estimates used for management purposes, such as planning, organizing, and schedule work.
  • Assists in preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness.
  • Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or effect cost reduction as needed.
  • Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Travels to construction and bid sites as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Science and Management or related degree preferred.
  • 2 years previous estimating experience preferred.
  • Requires computer knowledge, such as the Microsoft Office Suite and specific estimating software used for execution of key functions of the position.

 

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to work in or travel to other locations as needed.
  • Some overnight Travel required
  • Must be available as needed during non-traditional work hours.

  • May require sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to climb ladders and to work at heights.
  • Able to occasionally move/carry objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work extended hours.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Able to work in tight quarters.

 

Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock or burn.
  • The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be loud, but is typically moderate.
