Job Summary

Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities


  • Fits and welds product to specification
  • Fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques
  • Will read a part print to weld basic products using GMAW and operate welding robots
  • May operate a forklift and assist in all areas of production as needed


Requirements / Skills

  • High school diploma and at least 2 years of experience in the field
  • Has basic knowledge of welding concepts, procedures, and practices
  • Must pass welding test for butt joint single V groove weld in 1G position
  • Should be able to set amperage, volts and wire speed as required based on material thickness, position, etc.
  • Should be able to use a cutting torch and know what tip is required for various thicknesses
  • Has the ability to load components into Robotic welding fixtures and quality check product for conformance to code
  • Can manipulate robotic arm as necessary and clear faults when they occur
  • Has the ability to understand and interpret work order instructions
  • Accurately documents the number of units produced and materials required
  • Understands and follows quality control procedures and safety rules
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions
  • Able to solve problems as they arise and adapt to changing work situations.
  • Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions in English
  • Must have basic mathematical skills, i.e., ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide simple numbers
  • Must comprehend basic units of measure
